This south Denver neighborhood is predominantly defined by the expansive Harvard Gulch Park and the residential areas that surround it. In 1871, Denver pioneer Thomas M. Field acquired 80 acres of land and erected a substantial home, which later served as the State Home for Dependent Children. Over the years, this facility provided care for more than 17,000 children.

The flag thoughtfully incorporates symbolism that reflects the neighborhood's heritage. The green color represents the sprawling park, while the purple rose serves as a symbol of hope and compassion for the children who called this area home from 1902 to 1972. This flag serves as a tribute to the neighborhood's historical role in caring for the vulnerable and its enduring connection to the park that graces its landscape.
